Agua Blanca
The Machalilla National Park is a protected area along the Ecuadorian coast in the Manabi province. It is located South of the Mirador San Jose near Puerto Lopez and the small parish Machalilla. The Machalilla National Park has many beaches, forests and islands.
There is a small community called Agua Blanca that one must really visit when visiting the Ecuadorian coast. Located approximately 45 minutes from the Mirador San Jose community in close proximity to the Los Frailes beach this small community does a great job at showcasing its ancestral history. Visitors will be able to visit the museum which contains historical artifacts and archeological sites. One of the popular attractions to the community is the sulphur water pool where one can swim.
You can book a tour with a tour operator or you can also drive to the community by car to visit the community, museum and the sulphur baths.
Isla de la Plata
The Machalilla National Park is a protected area along the Ecuadorian coast in the Manabi province. It is located South of the Mirador San Jose near Puerto Lopez and the small parish Machalilla. The Machalilla National Park has many beaches, forests and islands.
One of these islands is La Plata. Isla de la Plata is home to lots of wild-life including the popular blue-footed boobies, nazca, red-legged boobies, frigates and albatrosses bids. There’s also the coral reefs which has a wide array of marine species including the manta rays, fish and turtles.
Once arrived at the island guests will be able to walk along hiking paths (approx 2 hours) which will be a great opportunity to take lots of pictures of the landscape and animals. Some tours offer guests the ability to do some snorkelling to observe fishes and the corals.
From June to October one can come across humpback whales while travelling to the island. These humpback whales come to the region to reproduce.
This is a full day of fun for you and your loved ones. Tours generally include a hike on the island, light lunch, snorkelling equipment (mask and tube), a boat with the safety equipment as well as guides (English or Spanish). It is recommended to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, hiking shoes, towel, swimsuit, windbreaker (June to October) and some snacks.

Whale Watching

Between June to October visitors to the Machalilla Park can observe humpback whales that find their way in the Ecuadorian waters off the coast. These whales travel to the area to reproduce and many tour operators offer boat excursions to witness these amazing creatures swimming in the open waters.
These tours are normally half a day and generally include a guide (English or Spanish) and a boat with the safety equipment. It is recommended that if you have experience seasickness before, to take a dizziness tablet 30 minutes before boarding the boat. Please bring a water bottle, sunscreen, a windbreaker (June to October) and some snacks.

Rainforest Horse Ride and Hiking

The community of San Sebastien is located within the Machalilla National Park and is home to a wide array of wild-life including trees, birds, insects, monkeys and toucans. This activity generally takes a full day and will allow you to visit the San Sebastien community ride on a horseback through the thick forests and witness all of what the forest has to offer. The tour also includes some intervals of walking. Some rubber boots are included and lunch will also be provided. We recommend you bring water, a shirt with long sleeves, a water bottle and some insect repellent.
Departures are generally done from Puerto Lopez around 9 am and you will be returning in the afternoon around 15:30 pm.

Parapenting
Feel like a bird soaring in the air and observing the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and landscape. This is the perfect activity for those seeking adventure and excitement.
Tours leave from Puerto Lopez at approximately 10 am and will bring you South to the parapenting area along the coast. Flights last for approximately 20 minutes. You will be able to take flight and glide down to your destination on a tandem with a paragliding instructor. Just sit back and enjoy the ride and the scenery.

Surf Lessons

This National Park has beautiful beaches where one can take surfing lessons. Surfing lessons are customizable to the level of difficulty of the guests and can be reserved by the hour. You will need to book a minimum of 2 hours of surfing lessons.
Including in your surfing lessons are an instructor, transportation and a snack. We recommend you bring a water bottle and proper attire to be in the water.
